The site allows consumers to inspect pictures, dealer invoice prices, and manufacturer's suggested retail prices for a wide variety of new cars. Since its launch, Auto-By-Tel has expanded to included financing, insurance rates, and a used-car cyberstore. The site offers extremely competitive pricing because it significantly cuts dealer advertising costs.

Black Sun Interactive and AdSmart Corp have developed the Spokesbot, an automated advertising program that can insert an animated character into chat rooms and games. The Spokesbot can be activated by certain words or phrases. Once activated the program introduces an interactive character that can answer consumer questions onto the screen. Because of its intrusive nature, the Spokesbot is expected to receive much more attention than banner advertising.
