Gloucester newspaper buys weeklies

North Jersey Newspapers Co, owner of the newspaper, 'Gloucester County Times,' has acquired four weekly newspapers and a monthly publication owned by the Thomas family. The acquired weekly newspapers included the 'Delaware Valley News,' 'Hunterdon Observer,' 'Hunterdon County Democrat' and the 'Warren Reporter.' Meanwhile, the monthly publication sold was the 'Horse News,' a journal for equestrians.

Union pickets Metro office

Article Abstract:

Members of Philadelphia Newspapers Inc's (PNI) Graphic Communications International Union have started picketing in front of the headquarters of the new Philadelphia tabloid called Metro. The union accused Metro and SEPTA of hurting Philadelphia pressroom workers because the tabloid is being printed by a New Jersey-based company that pays less than what union members are paid at PNI newspapers.

Commercial real estate newspaper opens Phila. area office

Article Abstract:

The Tri State Real Estate Journal, a Washington, DC-based newspaper that primarily focuses on the commerical real estate markets in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, has opened an office in Philadelphia, PA. The new office will give the publisher of the newspaper more access to the region. Tri State's publisher is also planning to have an advertising representative at the office.
