Chromosome analysis and mapping of ribosomal genes by one- and two-color fluorescent in situ hybridization in Hinnites distortus (Bivalvia: Pectinidae)

Article Abstract:

An analysis of metaphase chromosomes of the scallop Hinnites distortus using Giemsa staining, chromosome measurements, silver staining, one- and two-color fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) ribosomal DNA (rDNA) probes and 4', 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) banding compatible with in situ hybridization is presented. The 5S rDNA show a conventional tandem arrangement with a repeat unit of about 450 bp and it maps at the pericentromeric region of the long arm of one subtelocentric pair.

Effects of two-locus combinations, using the roux, lavender, and beige mutations, on plumage color of Japanese quail

Article Abstract:

The interactions between the effects of three plumage color mutations, sex-linked recessive roux, autosomal recessive lavender, and autosomal dominant beige are studied in Japanese quail. It produced a total of 121 F1 and 118 F2 quail from the three pure stocks.

Inheritance of the general shell color in scallop argopecten purpuratus

Article Abstract:

Genetic research on inheritance of color variations in the scallop is expanded to analyze color segregation in juvenile scallops produced under controlled conditions employing self and cross-fertilization.
