Cooperative effect of two surface amino acid mutations (Q252L and E170K) in glucose dehydrogenase from Bacillus megaterium IWG3 on stabilization of its oligometric state

Article Abstract:

The effect of the E170K and Q252L mutations on the secondary and quaternary structures of glucose dehydrogenase (GlcDH) was examined. The results indicated that the stability of the Q252L/E170K GlcDH is driven by stabilization of the quaternary structure and that a hydrophobic cavity is formed at the subunit-subunit interfaces.

5-keto-D-gluconate production is catalyzed by a quinoprotein glycerol dehydrogenase, major polyol dehydrogenase, in Gluconobacter species

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that the quinoproteins, D-arabitol dehydrogenase and D-sorbitol dehydrogenase are identical and catalyze D-gluconate oxidation to 5-keto-D-gluconate in Gluconobacter species. In addition, glycerol dehydrogenase has a role of a major polyol dehydrogenase mediating oxidation of sugar alcohols.

Pyrroloquinoline Quinone-dependent dehydrogenases from Ketogulonicigenium vulgare catalyze the direct conversion of L-Sorbosone to L-Ascorbic Acid

Article Abstract:

The metabolic pathways from primary sugars in Ketogulonicigenium vulgare DSM 4025 were studied. A novel enzyme L-sorbosone dehydrogenase 1 (SNDH1) which directly converts L-sorbosone to L-ascorbic acid (L-AA) and their genes in K. vulgare DSM 4025 were identified.
