Coordinated transcriptional and translational control in metabolic homeostasis in flies

Article Abstract:

A perfect coordination of the transcriptional and translational regulatory mechanisms, the two very important steps of gene expression is extremely important for an excellent metabolic homeostatis in the flies. The analysis reveals that the down-regulation of the cap-dependent translation is highly affected by the up-regulation of the cellular mRNA translation that further activates the 4E-BPs in vertebrates, which play a very important role in metabolic diseases like diabetes and obesity.

Lin-28 binds IGF-2 mRNA and participates in skeletal myogenesis by increasing translation efficiency

Article Abstract:

Lin-28 efficiently helps in the regulation of the developmental timing in Caenorhabditis elegans and also participates in the skeletal myogenesis by increasing the translation efficiency. Analyses proves that Lin-28 acts as translational enhancer in the embryonic and adult cells and tissues as it has the ability of binding to polysomes, hence increasing the efficiency of protein synthesis.

Hfq-dependent regulation of OmpA synthesis is mediated by an antisense RNA

Article Abstract:

MicA, when present at high levels, blocks ribosome binding at the ompA translation start site, and facilitates RNase E cleavage and subsequent mRNA decay. MicA requires the presence of the Hfq protein.
