Fluoranthene metabolism in Mycobacterium sp. strain KR20: identity of pathway intermediates during degradation and growth

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Mycobacterium sp. strain KR20 isolated from the polyacyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. The fluoranthene-degrading capability of this strain, the time course of fluoranthene degradation and the structural data of the metabolites have been investigated.

Degradation of chlorophenoxyacetic acids by the lignin-degrading fungus Dichomitus squalens

Article Abstract:

The degradation of 14C ring-and side-chain-labelled 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid by Dichomitus squalens and Phanerochaete chrysosporium was investigated. An initial ether cleavage followed by oxidative dechlorination of dichlorophenol and ortho cleavage of the aromatic ring were reported as the main pathway for the bacterial degradation.
