Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction technique can be used for simultaneous transcriptional analysis. Data also indicate that the technique does not involve hybridization and is sensitive.

Article Abstract:
Research reveals that 168 csn gene encodes chitosanase as shown by the inability of a csn mutant to synthesize the enzyme in Bacillus subtilis. Enzyme kinetics and amino acid sequence data indicate that B. subtilis chitosanase bear close resemblance to that produced by Streptomyces species.

Article Abstract:
Four clustered Streptomyces lividans TK21 genes which encode different type I signal peptidases (SPases) are discussed. Three of the genes make up an operon; the fourth is the first gene of another operon. Clustering of four different type I signal peptidase genes seems to be unique to Streptomyces among Gram-positive bacteria with multiple TypeI SPase genes.
