Article Abstract:
Resistance towards tetracycline among the natural and unselected populations of Escherichia coli from animals and humans was examined so that the distribution of the resistance genes in the environment and an insight into the selection pressures involved with the use of antibiotics could be determined. The results suggested the presence of the selection pressures in the various hosts.

Article Abstract:
TrzF, the allophanate hydrolase from Enterobacter cloacae strain 99, was cloned, overexpressed in the presence of a chaperone protein, and purified to homogenity. TrzF showed time-dependent inhibition by phenyl phosphorodiamidate and is a member of the amidase signature protein family.
