Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the transcriptional function of each upstream activating sequence (UAS) to the activity of the XPR2 gene from Yarrowia lipolytica and the contribution of the putative PaC/Rim101p targets to its regulation. Experimental results indicated that the UAS were characterized by several interacting elements. Findings also showed that the UAS were major determinants of promoter activities.

Article Abstract:
Researchers describe an autocloning method that produces multiple copies of the gene for extracellular lipase in Yarrowia lipolytica. These strains could produce 40 times more lipase per liter than strains containing only one copy of the gene. This makes them a promising source of lipase for industrial use, waste treatment, and pancreatic insufficiency treatment.

Article Abstract:
Research describes genetic analyses of two yeast strains isolated from poultry meat by various molecular characterization techniques. Data are useful in assessing the biodiversity of the yeast strains and their role in the spoilage.
