GABA itself promotes the developmental switch of neuronal GABAergic responses from excitation to inhibition

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the inhibitory neurotransmitter in the adult brain, GABA. Results indicate that the GABAergic responses undergo a switch from being excitatory to inhibitory and that the switch can be delayed by the chronic blockade of GABAergic receptors and accelerated by the increased GABAergic receptor activation.
