Article Abstract:
The cellar spider Pholcus phalangioides (Araneae) has been studied relative to geographic patterns of genetic subdivision. Geographical patterns of gene flow and drift were analyzed. Significant two-locus disequilibria were seen. a recent reduction in the effective population size was found in six sites. Five variable allozyme loci had significant interpopulation subdivision and isolation by distance over the area studied. on a regional scale significant differentiation was found but the genetic pattern did not correlate with distance. Results suggest a high potential of dispersal and strong effects of drift within small, demographically unstable mating units seem to cause significant, but unpredictable, genetic differentiation patterns at lower geographical scales. Sampling was from 23 subpopulations in five urban regions.

Research has been conducted on columnar cactus Stenocereus gummosus from Sonoran desert. The authors have investigated the geographic patterns of S. gummosus population genetic structure in the effort to test the dispersal hypothesis proposed for the origin of this population, and to test the population's concordant genetic structure hypothesis.

Research has been conducted on natural population of wild emmer wheat Triticum dicoccoides. The role of the allele size constraints and genetic and clustering effects in simple sequence repeat diversity in this population has been investigated, and the details are reported.
