Germ-cell loss extends C. elegans life span through regulation of DAF-16 by kri-1 lipophilic-hormone signaling

Article Abstract:

Genes required for germline removal to extend life span are identified and analyzed. It is found that the reproductive system communicates with the intestine through lipophilic-hormone signaling and that a gene called kri-1 is likely to act in the intestine to promote DAF-16 nuclear localization in response to this signal.

Understanding the odd science of aging

Article Abstract:

The existing theories regarding the process of aging are reviewed. The study indicates that the process of aging can occur due to the failure of the living systems to stay alive and their struggle to keep going on.
