Identification of QuiP, the product of gene PA1032, as the second Acyl-homoserine lactone acylase of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1

Article Abstract:

Studies of the gene pvdQ from strain PAO1 determined that it was sufficient but not necessary for long-acyl chain acyl-HSL degradation as a diversity of pvdQ mutants retained the ability to degrade and utilize acyl-HSLs establishing that Pseudomonas aeruginosa encodes at least one additional acyl-HSL-degrading acylase enzyme. In this study identification of other genes and enzymes that form the basis for the acyl-HSL degradation and utilization of Phenotype of P.aeruginosa PAO1 is attempted.

Directed evolution of Vibrio fischeri LuxR for improved response to butanoyl-homoserine lactone

Article Abstract:

The analysis of directed evolution of LuxR-G2E generated variants of LuxR that responded to butanoyl-homoserine lactone at concentrations as low as 10 nM is done. Findings suggest that LuxR is not intrinsically asymmetric in its response to quorum-sensing signals with different acyl-side-chain lengths.

Utilization of acyl-homoserine lactone quorum signals for growth by a soil pseudomonad and Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1

Article Abstract:

Research describes a soil pseudomonad which utilizes 3-oxododecanoyl-homoserine lactone as its only energy source and Pseudomonas aeruginosa that grows on long acyl-homoserine lactones. Data indicate that degradation of acyl-homoserine lactones by pseudomonads is documented for the first time.
