Article Abstract:
The purple nonsulfur Rhodospirillum rubrum is employed to study physiological adaptation to limiting oxygen tensions, the microaerophilic conditions. A model is proposed by which the primary 'switching' of oxidative and reductive metabolism is performed at the level of the tricarboxylic acid cycle and how this might affect redox signaling and gene expression in Rhodospirillum rubrum is suggested.

Article Abstract:
The incidence of photobacterium mandapamensis as a bioluminescent symbiont of marine animals is examined. Photobacterium mandapamensis was found as a light organ symbiont of five species of marine fishes: Acropoma japonicum, Photopectoralis panayensis, Photopectorali bindus, Siphamua versicolor and Gadella jordani.

Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that Rhodobacter capsulatus SB1003 can use Fe (III)-citrate as a carbon source in a light-dependent manner is examined. Results conclude that Rhodobacter capsulatus SB1003 can grow on Fe (III) in a light-dependent manner.
