Accountants are being hit by third party lawsuits where a non-client believes or argues that the accountant owes him or her a duty of care. The most highly publicized example of third party action is the case of Bannerman, where a Scottish judge ruled that a Bank Manager, in this case from the Royal Bank of Scotland, could rely on the opinion of the accountant.

Article Abstract:
The 167-page Oxera report on the domination of Big Four in the UK is highly debated. The report questions the domination of the Big Four in handling the audit of 99 out of 100 FTSE 100 companies, however, the report fails to add anything new or suggest new insights into process of auditing or and fails to give suggestions to stop the monopoly of the Big Four.
