Article Abstract:

A new category of slot machine, called the amusement with prize (AWP) machine, was created with the introduction of the 1965 UK Gaming Law, which restricted the amount of payout. The machines underwent various modifications over the years, but the basic premise of a low maximum cash jackpot has remained.

Article Abstract:

The amusement game industry used to be controlled by risk-taking entrepreneurs, but now corporations are more worried about accounting figures than product innovations. Companies should learn from past innovators how to take risks so that the industry will stay fresh and remain profitable.

The Polish games machines market and the gaming industry are in its early stages and with the country's cumbersome regulations the growth of the industry is very slow. The game industry exhibition Surexpo 2003 is also discussed.
